Earlier this week, Boy Scouts helped pack just under 600 sack packs for students in our community. These packs go home with students on the weekends and are filled with easy foods that they can make on their own.
Even with the rain today, Scouts collected 1,961 items with $78 in donations! Thank you to the community for your support of the Scouts through our annual Scouting for Food drive. With just over 75 hours of service today, we were able to give all of this to the Hope Food Pantry in Sioux Center.
Sioux Center Wreaths Across America teamed up with the Sioux Center Boy Scouts to clean up all the wreaths. All the wreaths were then taken to the Sioux Center dump.
Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts spent the day with various other volunteers placing 350 wreaths on veteran's graves. The Sioux Center Wreaths Across America collects donations year round to fund this project. Visit www.siouxcenterwaa.org for more information or to sponsor.
Each year in April, Troop 211 volunteers to pack sack packs for less fortunate students in the Sioux Center community. These packs are sent home with students on the weekend and are filled with easy to make items so the students can easily prepare them. We packed two weeks worth of packs.
We collected 2,948 items and over $120 worth of monetary donations. Big thank you to the Sioux Center Hy-Vee and Fareway for allowing us to collect from their stores and to Mouw Motor for donating the trucks for the day.
