Troop 211 spent their annual weekend fall camping outing up in Garretson, South Dakota. The Troop spent most of morning on Saturday cleaning up the river area. Scouts hiked up that afternoon up to the well known Devil's Gulch to see where Jesse James jumped.
Scouts were allowed to take only a few items from home - flashlight, backpack, water bottle, and a para cord bracelet. Each was then given a pill bottle, dental floss, and an emergency blanket to survive the weekend. Scouts made their own shelters and had to try and find food on their own.
Climbing, swimming, and hiking were at the top of the list for this weekend's events. Saturday's weather sent the Troop home early, however, Scouts still earned the Climbing merit badge in time.
Football in the dark requires headlights from vehicles. Our Troop knows what Scout Football commitment is.
Scouts used the weekend to create a relay race between our two patrols. We also visited the Dorthy Pecaut Nature Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
