Scouts were allowed to take only a few items from home - flashlight, backpack, water bottle, and a para cord bracelet. Each was then given a pill bottle, dental floss, and an emergency blanket to survive the weekend. Scouts made their own shelters and had to try and find food on their own.
The Sioux Center Public Library is now home to Sioux Center Boy Scout history. Filled with various items and reading materials from various stages through out Scouting's history, the display case shows how Scouting began and where is has gone over the years.
