The Sioux Center Boy Scouts were honored at the Sioux Center Community Awards for the 2014 Volunteer Organization of the Year. The Troop was presented with a plaque from Mayor Dennis Walstra.
Scouts spent the day in Omaha, Nebraska at the Air & Space Museum learning about the various types of aircraft that our nation has used in various wars. In the evening, Scouts were entertained by the Harlem Globetrotters.
Each year in April, Troop 211 volunteers to pack sack packs for less fortunate students in the Sioux Center community. These packs are sent home with students on the weekend and are filled with easy to make items so the students can easily prepare them. We packed two weeks worth of packs.
We collected 2,948 items and over $120 worth of monetary donations. Big thank you to the Sioux Center Hy-Vee and Fareway for allowing us to collect from their stores and to Mouw Motor for donating the trucks for the day.
